Good: Size, weight, keypad feels good to the touch, stylish case
Bad: Blue-screens twice weekly, touch-screen response is unreliable
Comment: I purchased the XT six months ago but made the mistake of allowing my IT department try to fix it's problems before calling Dell myself; AFTER the return period had expired.
I've been working with Dell since, giving them every opportunity to fix it with hardware, including:
Memory upgrade.
Motherboard replacement.
Ultimately, full unit replacement.
The second unit they've shipped me has a better touchscreen but, like the first one, it also heats up like a toaster and blue-screens on a regular, though unpredictable, basis.
To top it off, the replacement machine arrived without the on-board Verizon broadband card that I'd paid for so I began talking to Dell about a refund. That request was reviewed and denied so I now eagerly await the arrival of my third Latitude XT and the Dell Customer Care adventure I expect it to provide.
I've owned a Fujitsu with a touch-screen for five years and if it would accept more than 256M RAM, I would still happily use it.
I don't fathom why Dell sought to reinvent the wheel with the XT and I certainly wish I hadn't let my IT department talk me into being one of Dell's guinea pigs.
That said, I would love my XT if it worked reliably.
In terms of keyboard feel and all-round form-factor, it is the most comfortable of Dell notebooks that I have used.
I hope that XT number three will satisfy me completely.
