Good: cheap (affordable) others: I had previously posted
Comment: The boot up time and relative heat rise problems can be solved by replacing the old HDD by the recent sata III SSD like me . windows 7 ultimate 64 bit boot up in less than 25 sec and shuts down in about 15 - 20 sec wooooww
Also the windows experience index Aero scores for that model oscillate according driver version of both intel chip and Nvidia card driver version (6.6, 6.3, 5.9)
My 3dMark06 is 7396 in 1280x1024 resol.with previously posted specification which is acceptable for that mid range device
Good: Price vs Performance
Bad: display gone off in one and half year.... Dell service expert says, its due to faulty non-compatible graphics card nVidia that is pre-installed... they are also charging very HUGE to make it operable... bad way to do business DELL... :(
Comment: Apart from faulty graphics card issue, its OK.
Shall appreciate if DELL can provide real service instead of making it a worst way of earning... Selling a faulty product and charging Hugh should not be intention of a company like DELL
Good: VERY SPEEDY PEREFORMANCE no heat issues dedicated graphic nVidia card eSATA port 2*usb 3 ports
Bad: battery life (no problem if it used as adesktop replacement )slghtly heavier50-100 gram than its competitors but its capabilities outperform this little problem
Comment: i had this computer about 15 months ago with the same configuration as the review except cpu Intel Core i5-450m with 2.5-3.1 Ghz (turbo boost) and never crashed. windows experience index 5.9 due to its slow 5400 rpm HD but graphic card with latest driver scores 6.6 even with aero (excellent for that cheap laptop) . USB 3 is an 5*-10* USB 2 speed times for rapid file transfer. I loved its three dash board keys above the keyboard especially dell support middle key and its pc doctor HW diagnostic tools. THE BATTERY life shortcoming issue can be overcomed by use dell extended battery mode configuration and use SW performance utilities to disable unnecessary background applications and unused services loads (e.g. tuneUp utilities 2014).
Good: Nice resolution and runs smoothly had it for 2 years now and great laptop for the average user
Bad: Poor battery life and take large amount of time to boot and start using which is extremely frustrating
Comment: i give it a 2.5 because of boot time would of give it 3.5 the problem is i am not pushing the laptop to its with excessive software etc i hardly use it yet it takes about 4 minutes to fully load before i can use it
Comment: i played tomb raider 2013 and many other games for hours no problems to me so far. no fps problem Games runs smoothly in normal settings,no heat issue, if u know ur laptop. battery is not long lasting.
Comment: I just wanted to say, I was getting really excited about this laptop
until I saw this review. I'm looking at several brands and configurations, and before I purchase, I always make a habit of researching other people's opinions. In all the years of doing this, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a review as much as I did this one! Well written, easy to understand and I cannot express how much I appreciated the wonderful touch of whimsy the writer used. Please let him know for me.
Good: Dedicated vga, Mobility, Modarate battery performance,
Bad: Poor bootup times, Heat
Comment: Although the build quality is not very awesome; the system delivers what it promised. Really good for both heavy multitaskers and heavy gamers.
Crysis 1 will deliver an average of 22FPS while playing at the highest settings which is quite good for a nVidia mobile chip. Battery lives from 2.5h to 4hours depending on your work.
Please mind your left fingers because they are pron to extreme heat generated by the dedicated VGA while gaming.
Bootup and startup on mine takes more than 1.5mins and you'll need another 30 secs till the machine is workable.
i7 2670QM 2.2GHz/4GB
Good: Internet browsing
Bad: Terrible for gaming handles around 5 fps, randomly shuts down after being on for a couple of hours, doesnt allow you to update graphics
Comment: Got this computer for my 14 birthday looking forward to using it. This pc is a waste of money in my eyes, you have to clean and shred files that arent needed for the computer to even be decent in speed. Theres no point trying to play large games because it handles upto 20 fps before completely lagging out, waste of money
Bad: the hard drive was faulty
Comment: I have the previous model to this one but as it isn't on CnetUK I can't comment on that page. (I have the n5010). I have had nothing but problems throughout the 18 months I've had it so far. A week ago the hard drive failed due to no fault of my own and I am now having to spend over £100 to get it working again. It has been a very slow computer and it doesn't like doing anything. Not worth the money I payed for it.
Comment: Perfect machine for the price paid
