Review:
Ok, It's only been a few days since I've bought this MacBook (2GHz and 160GB). I haven't used it much, but I have used it enough to be able to give a fairly good review on it.
So, there are quite a few good things I can say:
1. Finder Application is superb... type something in, and there's a 99% chance that you'll find what you're looking for.
2. Integrated camera - fun to take pictures instantly.
3. Dashboard application - abit like google side bar, nice applications called 'widgets'
4. Stickies application - allows you to make sticky notes - I guess the name gives it away!
5. iTunes and iPhoto - iPhoto allows you to view your pictures as an automatic slideshow with your own music from iTunes and you can change settings to change the slide transition etc - all within minutes...or even less!!
6. CONNECTIVITY!! amazing!! superb!! brilliant!! bluetooth aswell! ... you should get the Mighty Mouse aswell ... connected via bluetooth! ... cool little gadget!
7. trackpad and keyboard which is spacious!!
Ok, there are more good things, and other things which I still have to play around with to get to know. But here are a few things I don't really like, not major things, most of their solutions are 'the more you use it, the more you get used to it!' but anyway here they are...
1. a little bit heavy but you can't really complain about that!
2. no right click button (mouse or trackpad)
3. I bough 'iwork08' with the macbook, it's alright but there are alot of things that I miss which is in Microsoft Office but not iwork08. Yes I could get office08 but i've heard that it isn't very good so I don't want to risk it. Might consider a free trial though to test it out. But as I said above, the more i use it....
4. can't seem to save an image from the internet or elsewhere ... no idea why!!
....i think it's time to start reading the 'Switching to Mac' book that I bought for $35. ... pretty big book....contents page looks interesting....looks like it is worth the $35!!
Anyway, so that's just my first few impressions of the MacBook! So, would i recommend it?
YES....definitely!!!
As I said above, if you're new to mac like me, it'll take some time getting used to it!
By the way, if you are new to mac, Apple stores around the world offer a one hour training session ... it's one to one and you can have one session a week at an apple store....yearly membership for this in UK is GBP79.00 and $99.00. Unfortunately they don't do one-off sessions! But the price seems pretty reasonable!!
Good Luck with buying!!

Not a bad budget laptop, but the bigger R720 is a much better option if portability isn't a prime concern
