Hi I'm Rory Reid and this is the Sony Vaio TT. Obviously it doesn't have anything to do with Audi's iconic roadster, but it does cost nearly as much -- it has a starting price of £2000.
What do you get for your money? Well it's an incredibly stylish 11-inch ultraportable weighing in at 1.3Kg. I'm really loving the matt black finish -- or "intense noir" as Sony calls it. Unlike the glossy finishes on some laptops, this doesn't attract fingerprint smudges, which is a real bonus.
The keyboard section is beautiful to look at, too. The buttons are a bit on the small size, but unlike the keys on some laptops, which are very tightly packed together -- these are isolated, so it's still very easy to type on.
Below the keyboard, you get a good sized mouse trackpad and selector buttons, plus a fingerprint reader, which can help reduce the hassle of typing in a password every time you log in.
If we take a look around the laptop, you'll see on the left there are mic and headphone ports, a couple of USB ports, a 4-pin iLink port, an ExpressCard slot, plus HDMI and Ethernet hidden away behind this flap. That looks a bit rubbish if you ask me, but I'm guessing it's there because Ethernet ports are a tiny bit ugly.
On the right you get this absolutely gorgeous power button, which glows green when it's on, or amber when it's in standby mode, plus an analogue video output and a DVD rewriter drive. At the front you get a MagicGate memory stick reader, plus a memory card reader directly below that. There's also a hard-wired switch for turning the wireless on or off, and on the opposite side, some volume controls, a programmable application button, which launches a program of your choice, and an eject button.
A range of internal components are available on the TT. This entry-level model packs a 1.2Ghz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, which isn't an awful lot for your money.
However, the two best things about the TT -- and this may or may not sway your judgement -- include the integrated 3G card, which lets you surf the Web almost anywhere, and the stupendously-long battery life -- Sony reckons it can last as long as 9 hours.
Don't forget you can check out our full review for all the official facts and figures. I'm Rory Reid and this is the Sony Vaio TT.
Watch Rory Reid, our laptop expert extraordinaire, discuss the new Sony Vaio TT. This ultraportable looks phenomenal, has a well-designed Qwerty keyboard that allows for spacious high-speed touch-typing and has an impressive battery life. While all these features amount to quite the pricetag, the TT is definitely the top of its league.
