Typical price: £900
What is it: Powerful, bargain desktop replacement
What we think: Excellent performance, especially for gaming, but the X200 suffers from incredibly short battery life

We like:
High performance; excellent graphics; good expansion
We don't like:
Very short battery life; heavy; screen isn't HD resolution
Also known as:
Toshiba X200
CNET.co.uk judgement:
Performance doesn't have to come at a premium rate. The Toshiba Satellite X200-219 proves this to be true. Stick to your desk, though: it's too heavy to use on the go and its battery life is incredibly short

Dell Studio 15
It has a good mix of features for the price, but we'd be tempted to save up for a thinner, lighter XPS
