Good: Very quick with clear screen and the stylus adds new dimension
Bad: Not the latest Android version
Comment: Moving up from the original Samsung Tablet has been a joy.
The note has a very clear screen, and for a tablet is very quick with an abundance of storage, and yes, I did try the Apple offerings. Why do people/reviewers keep banging on about how nice the Apples are to look at but the Samsung is cheap plastic. Fact: I own a tablet to use, not as an object to say 'look at me and what I own'.
My tablet goes everywhere with me, so its in a case for additional protection, so hopefully people don't get too offended by that 'awful' plastic.
Good: Now available for under £200
Comment: Loads of advantages over the iPad Mini and now that it is under £200 I can't see why you should buy a mini. Bright, crystal clear screen, fast processor, micro SD etc etc. I got the WatchOn app to work no problem :)
Good: S-Pen, perfect screen size, TouchWiz features
Comment: Here's the odd thing, I also played around with the Note and an iPad Mini.. I looked at the iPad and thought it just looked boring with its endless screens of square icons. The Samsung was bright, animated and looked like it could do whatever you asked it to do. The problem with shop displays however, is that quite a lot of spotty greasy kids have come by and messed about with everything, leaving it all a bit unruly. It needs a quick reboot to fully appreciate it properly.
Good: Size, multi window
Bad: Ugly and jerky user interface, price
Comment: I had a quick play with an iPad mini and one of these note 8 in a shop and I just wouldn't buy the Samsung. The Note8 seems to struggle running its launcher and swiping to the next page was laggy whereas the iPad interface is a smooth as a sliding on ice. I have the same jerky experience on my Tab2 but it's ok because it is dirt cheap. Add to that that there are very few truly tablet optimised Android apps and you wonder why you'd bother spending that much on this.
Good: large screen
Bad: unbelievably slow, inaccurate keyboatd and writing trcy, doesn't understand accents such as yorksgire for voice actovated thongs. give it a wide berth.
Bad: Not much
Comment: Your reviewing the note 8 as if it's in competition with your wife ? .in a nutshell it's got a bigger screen a clearer screen . A stylus. Upgradable memory micro sd ..sure I have spare ones knocking about. . it's far more customizablle . you say it's far more expensive the the 32 gb is 450 quid ? Coupled with the fact you can't lift the memory out stitch it in a laptop and drop 30 gb of varying film formats and music onto it in the time it takes you to register your credit on the AppStore before being fleeced for every type of media available . that and you can make a call from it if you were in a pickle and your phone died. ios is beautiful and slick but it's also for people with too much money and no imagination Ps I have 2 iPads and I love them but if I can imagine something innovative I will alway find it on andriod way before apple have tried to make cash from it . rant over
Bad: Battery life is not as impressive as iPad mini
Comment: I have both of them : iPad mini & Note 8 n5100
Note 8 is far better than iPad mini, in all aspects, specially new multitasking with multiWindow feature which lets user to work with 2 programs at the same moment, for me for instance : i read a french PDF text on the left window, and use a French to English Babylon dictionary on the right at the same time.
in iPad mini, i had to switch between programs and it was awful.
the only drawback of note 8 is it's shorter battery life.
Bad: Battery Problem
Comment: I bought this notepad last Christmas for my Son. It has serious battery issue. It simply doesn't charges. It has gone for repairs twice with Samsung but they have not been able to fix it.
I wish I would have bought Apple I-Pad I would have taken to Genius Store and they would have fixed it one go.
Comment: what does plastic feel like compare with aluminium? Aluminium conducts heat better, so it can fell colder or warmer, depending on your device state, so how does it feel luxurious? smoother? the review said the Note felt smoother, more like fur?
I held one it feels good, not creaking or over flexing. (it needs to flex a bit ortherwise it will get like a bent iphone)
Why is this review seems to be praising the ipad mini? come here to read about the note 8. The review practically said, get the ipad mini if you dont need a stylus?, what about SD slot? Some people want android, it should be compared with the nexus, not ipad.
Comment: Actually, it has both the good and the bad but in conclusion, It is still worth your investment. Here is a quite nice review about this tablet too:
