Comment: This iPad mini is such a ridiculous idea! I already have an iPad, and it works fine and is much better than this! And it's really stupid, so this iPad hasn't upgraded at all, apple just made it smaller and made it weigh a mini amount less. And this has actually downgraded due to the poor screen and if you pay about £50 more you can get an iPad 2 or pay a little more than £50 for an iPad 3! That's so rubbish. Sure, people can transport it easier but what's the point because it's still the same width and I think this is a very bad idea and it costs a lot, just buy an iPad 1 or iPad 2. Simple.
Comment: youd have to be off your Nut to pay the asking price for this Apple are taking the Piss
Good: Is iPad
Bad: Is pricey processor is old screen resolution old
Comment: What a step back for apple nothing new this was suppose to be competition against nexus 7 but with new 32gb coming at half price with better processor better screen then know what is on my Xmas list a nexus 7
Comment: I think Apple have priced themselves out of the market with this, at least in the UK, they should have considered the Nexus philosophy with the added revenue they would have received through the app store and itunes from all the people who considered the ipad too expensive.
Very short sighted on their behalf and possibly believing their own hype a bit too much.
I own an iphone and we have a 1st gen ipad, I was looking forward to this as I have allways considered the ipad too big for casual use. It may be time to look elsewhrere
Good: Same superb iPad experience in smaller, more portable package.
Bad: No one expected to see prices as low as the subsidised low cost mini tablets, but they've priced it a little too high.
Comment: Processor and an extra amount of RAM are neither here nor there when Apple have a very good track record of squeezing good performance from their hardware.
Screen size is more than the 0.9" extra diagonal (35% more physical screen area). The direct comparison with the Nexus 7 shows that there is a huge improvement on actual displayed screen area. 49% more in portrait view and a whopping 67% more viewable screen in landscape view.
The slightly lower spec on the screen should easily be overcome with a bright and clear image display, compared with the slightly subdued and washed out appearance of the Nexus 7 screen.
Comment: rating added
Comment: oh and I'd definitely stick with a wifi version. Getting a phone contract which has voice & data and allows tethering is as cheap as £25/month and then you don't have to worry about using 4g later on.
Good: looks impressive
Bad: expensive and some specs not as good as the Nexus 7 (the mini tablet to compete with)
Comment: I have a a Nexus 7 which is easily the best tablet in this size range. The Nexus's screen resolution is very good, jelly bean is a pleasure to use and the Nexus is under £200 (speaker needs to be louder and more storage space needed). And yet, maybe it's the Apple marketing, I am very interested in seeing what the Ipad mini is actually like to use. After getting a Nexus 7 I came to the conclusion that this size is a lot better than getting an oversized phone- and it's different to the ipad. Hopefully, someone will buy it as a present for me! (or I'll get one on loan to review)- Christmas round the corner. Meanwhile, I shall carry on happily using my Nexus 7 and iPad!
