Good: Excellent sound, Screen, HDMI out
Bad: No easy access to google play apps. Some such as SkyGo won't work. No GPS
Comment: I own both a 32GB Kindle Fire HD and a 32 GB Nexus 7. On balance I prefer the Nexus 7 but there are some things the Kindle Fire HD does better.
1. The screen is easier to read outside
2. Sound quality is MUCH better
3. It has an HDMI output
4. The Kindle store is really easy to use - but that's also a limiting factor
It is possible to install non Amazon approved apps on the Kindle Fire. You need to look up 'sideloading' for how. I've even managed to install the Nook reader on mine. That is probably only an advantage if a book is only available on the Nook because Amazon generally sells books for less.
Some applications such as Sky Go can be installed but won't run however
Good: good for books mags video, user interface easy to find way round would like to see google chrome on it but silk browser ok
Bad: poor support from Amazon. littl information on security apps compatble with this device on line and through Amazon On line help line. was past from one to 4 persons who had no clue to my nquiry about securty anti malware apps
Comment: device is good does what its made to do . poor on line securty features no information available on line or through Amazon support help line .on securty apps?
Good: nice screen
Bad: everything else
Comment: My sister bought one and was gutted, just cant do much with it, no google play store have to go through amazon and pay for almost everything but it does have a stunning screen, i got a nexus 7 and it wipes the floor with it, can do so much more and i find it easier to use, so to all who think kindle fire is better than nexus 7 then you obviously have no idea what youre talking about maybe you should go back and use something simple like a calculator or maybe that to hi tech for you.....
Good: Screen, Ease of use, doesn't feel cheap like a Nexus
Bad: Not amazing
Comment: This item does what it is designed for - it delivers content in a simple and straightforward way.
Bot the screen and the sound quality are way better then the Google Nexus and it feels a lot better in the hand.
The Nexus feels cheap, sound quality is awful and the screen dull - please test one before you buy - reviews on here are often a little gushing about Google products - poor call quality for Nexus 4 phone a big issue on the US CNET - not mentioned here.
I flogged my Nexus on Ebay but kept one of these; it does what it is supposed to do with just a little bit of style.
Good: Ok for non-techy people who shop mainly on Amazon
Bad: Adverts and customisation
Comment: What you are looking at here is basically just a remote control device to get you in and out of Amazon quickly. There's no other function than to sell you stuff. I also HATE having to pay to advertise goods or services for a company - it should be the other way round! My father (79) looked at it briefly before going with my recommendation to try the Nexus 7 which he then bought and loves it. My household now has 3 Nexus 7's and even my teens wouldn't choose this.
Bad: not enough instructions
Comment: I would like to know how to access the camera
Good: Great streamline look with a very clear crisp screen
Bad: Slow to open up apps and sometimes response is very poor from the touch screen interface. Also i tried to open up Icloud.com to check my emails as i have an Apple address but the browser could not open I-cloud ,not sure if this can that can be corrected?
Comment: Could have been better for a nice looking design!
Comment: Check out the multiple "failure" reports regarding Kindles on the Which? website!!
You might want to take those into consideration when/before buying a Kindle.
Good: Very good clear reading format
Bad: Cannot get nusic to play through my Hi-Fi system
Comment: The one thing that annoys me is the lack of instruction on how you can input the music you have on the Fire HD through your Hi-Fi system. Otherwise it does all I need. Just let me play all my Amazon Cloud music through my Hi-Fi system.
Comment: Why spend money on this when you can have a nexus 7 for less and you get so much more????
