Ian Morris
Ian Morris loves televisions so much he's been banned from wedding chapels in Las Vegas for trying to marry them. When he's not romancing technology, he can be found watching American TV. Ian likes roast potatoes, but he doesn't like digital rights management.

On-screen Logos: DIE, DIE, DIE!
Never let it be said that I was the voice of reason or anything, but when TV channels have on-screen logos, I really feel the need to vent some serious rage in their general direction. This is common practice on satellite, cable and Freeview channels and it's another one of those diseases we've caught from the Americans. Click here for more

Now I understand
When I was growing up as a young geek, I always had desktop computers. It all began with the BBC B, progressed to the Amstrad CPC6128 and on to the Atari ST. From then on it was Windows PCs, and that's how it's stayed. So it goes without saying that I always played my games on the PC. Click here for more

Unlimited broadband isn't dead
For a years now, ISPs have advertised their Internet offerings as 'unlimited', even if what they mean is, "We'll watch you like a hawk, and the first time you download some video we'll send you a letter and then cut you off." Well, apparently the time will soon come when no ISP calls their offering unlimited, and we all pay for what we use. Click here for more

There have been some reports in the press recently that Steve Jobs considers Apple TV to have been something of a failure. I say he's totally correct. Click here for more

A brilliant way to make money
Here's an idea to make loads of money. Set up a mobile phone company -- for the sake of argument, let's call it Wodabone. Now, in order to make money, we'll need a service that we can charge at a rate that suits us. Internet access is ideal for this, because it costs us almost nothing and no one can tell us how much we should be charging. Click here for more

Will we rue the day we let HD DVD die?
As a tech journalist, I meet a lot of other tech journalists and obviously we talk constantly about technology and the TV show Lost. As you might imagine, Toshiba and HD DVD have been the topic of many recent conversations. What I've been able to glean is this: most of us geeks would have been happy for HD DVD to win the format war. Click here for more

I'm a traitor
It's true, I am. I used to be exclusive to Sony Ericsson, but I've recently had an affair and now I'm going steady with Nokia. My switch is even more perplexing to those who know me, because I've spent the last five years cussing Nokia's user interface as ugly and hard-to-use. Why this sudden change of heart? Text this 15 digit code to this five digit number to order a pizza
I love my mobile phone but I hate making and receiving phone calls on it. It's one of life's great contradictions. My phonecall phobia does, however, mean I'm always on the look-out for non phonecall-related things to do with my mobile. Click here for more

Samsung at IFA: A 200Hz LCD and other TV treats
Crave Samsung is always keen to be on the bleeding edge, so it was no surprise to hear it announce OLED TVs, 200Hz picture modes and even a new ultra-high definition TV
Sony RDR-HXD995
Review Despite all the awful shopping channels, there's a wealth of great TV to record on Freeview. For maximum flexibility you'll want a DVD recorder and PVR with plenty of storage space, and that can record cable or satellite from a number of inputs. The Sony RDR-HXD995 fits the bill, with 1080p upscaling to boot
Photos: Hands-on with new TVs from Sony
Photo After Sony had finished its press conference we were dispatched to go and touch the new TVs, and what we saw made us happy, which is a first for IFA
Toshiba Regza 40ZF575D: Improving bog-standard video
Crave Toshiba might not have an HD format to push anymore, but now it's got a new cause -- making sure we all get the best out of our existing standard-definition material
Sony Bravia Z4500, EX1 and ZX1: Exciting new TV gubbins
Crave As we were in IFA, we decided it was probably a good idea if we went along to the Sony stand to listen to victory speches about Blu-ray and more milking of the James Bond franchise
Tonium Pacemaker: Decks and mixer in your pocket
Crave If you can't bear to be anywhere without your wheels of steel, the Tonium Pacemaker might well be what the doctor of decks ordered
Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000
Review The Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 is a 40-inch 1080p LCD stuffed to the brim with picture processing and features designed to make your viewing experience better. A new interface is designed to make setting the TV up and using it much easier, and there's an interesting new style from Sony
Popcorn Hour A-110
Review We loved the Popcorn Hour A-100, because for around £150 you got a media streamer that can play virtually every video format under the Sun and has enormous flexibility. Now the company has tweaked the hardware and added some new features, including HDMI 1.3 and SATA support
