Ian Morris
Ian Morris loves televisions so much he's been banned from wedding chapels in Las Vegas for trying to marry them. When he's not romancing technology, he can be found watching American TV. Ian likes roast potatoes, but he doesn't like digital rights management.

A tax on Internet access is a good idea
There's been fresh interest recently, in the light of the Digital Britain report, in some form of taxation on Internet access in the UK. The idea is that copyright holders could be compensated for the losses they incur through copyright infringement by online file-sharers. The suggestion seems to be that we'd each pay something like £20 a year on top of our broadband subscription, to cover P2P downloads. Click here for more

Cruel new BBC branding imposed on stars
Imagine you settled down to watch your favourite spy-themed drama series, but instead of watching on regular BBC One, you chose the advanced showing on BBC Three. As you might imagine, this means tolerating the usual vile, bright-pink on-screen logo. Click here for more

Quantum of Solace should be free
You don't have to pay to watch Coronation Street because the advertisers are footing the bill. So when a movie has more ads than an episode of Corrie, you'd expect you would be able to see that for free too -- the new Bond film, Quantum of Solace, is stuffed so full of product placement, everyone should be allowed into the cinema for free. A new service that lets you tweak your connection setting has made me even happier. Click here for more

It's official: 'unlimited' means 'limited'
Nate and I both get cross about the abuse of the word unlimited when it comes to download limits on broadband and mobile internet. As writers, we are both of the opinion that there isn't much point in having a language if tech companies can simply change the meaning of words when it suits them. Click here for more

I should be in charge of BT
I'm just about to move house. At the moment I live about 600m from my local phone exchange. This, as ADSL geeks will know, means I get around a 21Mbps internet connection with my ISP, Be*. Click here for more

MPs want a watershed for YouTube
I can hardly believe how idiotic our government can be at times. The latest report designed to prove how little politicians understand technology is the proposal from the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee that video-hosting Web sites restrict content based on the time of day, just like TV companies do with broadcast content.
