Comment: Thanks for a useful review. A couple of observations: 1. It's odd to see any phones referred to as "inner-ear" type; 'in-ear' type would be nearer the mark, as technology hasn't yet advanced to the point where transducers can be placed in the inner ear (ie beyond the eardrum)! 2. It's not possible to have a push-button type volume control without either a more complicated interface with the driving equipment or some electronics (ie an amp) in the volume control unit itself. This adds weight and cost.

Good: Fabulous punchy sound with great detail
Bad: Volume control is plasticky and a little imprecise
Comment: I bought these as a replacement for a pair of CX 300 II's that died. I loved the 300's but an hour after putting on the 880's I was blown away by the difference in sound quality. Beautifully balanced across the frequency range, satisfying bass tones combined with crystal clear high and mid notes and wonderful sound seperation provide a lovely experience.
Oh and the major bonus was snagging them for 39.99 at Tesco's.

Good: Noise cancelling
Bad: Plastic.
Comment: I have always wondered what the big issue was with Sennheiser... They're meant to be 'good' right? Well i'm a very happy Grado SR 80i owner, and since Grado, it's hard to impress me.
The sound is 'alright, if that's what you're looking for. Deffinately not worth the £60 i paid! The plastic is terrible. Sennheiser COULD have put some metal in these, so why didn't they? I think Sennheiser let themselves down as a brand on this design.
If you're not going to put metal in the design, don't try fool us!
Not very happy, but the sound is 'ok'.
