For the sake of comparison, the Home Media Network Hard Drive was slightly slower than the Western Digital My Book World Edition, which scored 120.1Mbps and 206.6Mbps in the write and read tests.

Conclusion
The Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive is a very good NAS server. Getting it up and running is a simple task, as is customising the more
advanced settings. Its good performance and support for USB hard drives and printers round out its merits. If you're looking for more advanced features, check out the Synology Disk Station DS107+ or the Western Digital My Book World Edition.

Good: It looks pretty
Bad: I have been unable to successfully install it on my iMac
Comment: Connected it as instructed & used the accompanying driver... The lights are on but it will not connect. The troubleshooting offered by iomega is pitiful (at best).
To add insult to injury, I have to drive some considerable distance to the retailer to return it.
If it offers any resistance to installation then at some point it'll be a royal pain in the rear sphincter to sort out should it go wrong in the future!

Good: It turns on
Bad: Unstable, slow, software doesn't work, cloud services don't work, mobile app useless, often fails to reboot, security settings a waste of time
Comment: Maybe my experience with Mac OS X Lion is not typical but I have had nothing but hassle with the 2Tb Cloud edition of this device. "Just install the software..." if only I could. Won't work on Mac Lion, just get error report. Used latest software download from Iomega's support site - still didn't work. Had to connect via safari browser, ok not a deal breaker but then transferring files has about an 80% chance of failure, freezing the drive and my Mac with it. Unable to reboot without physically pulling power lead. Reconnecting as a guest (no named account yet set up) denies access to the shares. Have to try reboot using software (will now work when rebooting if not already crashed) before being allowed access as guest account. After many hours of this cycle managed to get most of my files transferred across. I set up security to stop accidental deletion of files and just to check this worked, connected as a guest from my jailbroken Apple TV 1 and tried to delete a movie file - which it promptly did! Despite 2 firmware updates and a hack of a plist file to enable DHCAST128 in Lion, it still would crash 50% of the time when writing to data on the drive. I couldn't get the cloud function to work. (I could connect and view the files over the network after much effort but could not load or play video/picture or audio files). The Iomega app for the iPad just crashes all the time (much like the drive itself). In summary this promises a lot but fails to deliver on almost every level. Avoid like the plague - especially if you're a Mac owner.

Good: Easy to set-up, built-in print server works very well
Bad: The paper documentation is useless.
Comment: Worked straight out-the-box, detected by all laptops and PC's on the network. Printer took a bit of understanding but once I knew what to do, it was straight forward.
I highly recommend it, especially at the price I paid (£99)
