Nokia N810 Internet Tablet
If you're making your first foray into the mobile Internet devices, the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet is a sleek and Web 2.0-friendly choice. It's a slightly niche attraction, but with the addition of a Qwerty keyboard and integrated GPS, it's a more widely appealing device

iRex iLiad
The iRex iLiad has the best screen we've seen on an ebook reader -- it's made using E Ink technology, which doesn't flicker and doesn't use a backlight. It also has built-in Wi-Fi. But is that enough to make us burn our paperbacks?

Mio DigiWalker C320
Mio's latest attempt at a 'style-nav' -- as much about looking good as finding your way home -- is the C320, an elegant widescreen unit built around a gorgeous touch-sensitive display. It comes with UK and Western Europe street maps as standard

Mio DigiWalker C220
Mio's DigiWalker C220 is a small, dedicated touchscreen sat-nav that's as home in a handbag as it is on your dashboard -- all at a price that's miniaturised to match. It's a far cry from Mio's old cumbersome PDAs and clunky smartphones

Sony Nav-U NV-U92
Sony is finally bringing its trademark style to satellite navigation, with the slimline, widescreen Nav-U NV-U92, which promises simple pan-European guidance, real-time traffic updates and a hybrid navigation system to help it cope with cities

Nokia N800 Internet Tablet
The Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a touchscreen device that's bigger than a phone or handheld but smaller than a laptop. It's designed primarily for surfing the Internet and its exceptionally sharp, clear screen is ideal for that purpose, but it relies on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for connectivity, which renders it useless in many scenarios

Garmin nuvi 660
With integrated Bluetooth, traffic and safety camera alerts and a large, sharp colour screen, you'd expect Garmin's nüvi 660 to be huge, but it's one of the slimmest, most lightweight models around. If you don't mind paying a few quid extra, it's well worth consideration

TomTom One Europe
TomTom is going back to basics with its One sat-nav system -- it does navigation, and that's about it. It features a super sleek design and comes with an SD card preloaded with maps of Western Europe. If you're looking for your first in-car GPS device or a no-frills sat-nav system, the TomTom One Europe fits the bill

Navman iCN 720
The Navman iCN 720 is a high-quality widescreen navigation device with excellent usability and on-screen information display. The bigger screen does make for a sizeable device, though, and although it's intriguing, we're not convinced that NavPix will have the revolutionary effect that Navman is hoping for

TomTom GO 910
The GO 910 performs its core navigation task very competently. The wide-screen format is certainly an improvement, and the software is well implemented in terms of presentation and usability, with the exception of a rather deep menu structure

Sony Reader preview
The Sony Reader is an small, lightweight device that boasts an extra-large screen and has the capacity of holding up to 80 books at a time. It can also access blogs and RSS newsfeeds when docked to a PC, and you can view JPEGs, personal documents and PDFs. It might not be enough to kill the paperback but it's giving it a very good go
Nokia 770 Internet Tablet
The 770 is an oddity -- not quite a handheld organiser, it's a portable Internet device that connects to the Web through the wonder of Wi-Fi. The screen is a little too small and it doesn't have enough memory to run multiple applications, but it's reliable and feature-packed
