Typical price: £430
What is it: HSDPA Windows Mobile 5 smart phone with detachable Qwerty keyboard
What we think: Geeky and slightly strange, but the best device yet to make the most of HSDPA mobile broadband speeds

We like:
Large, colourful screen; decent battery life; magnetic keyboard; generous 8GB microdrive
We don't like:
Large and heavy; nasty key action; not really a phone; disabled GPS
You might also need:
Better headphones are always a worthwhile investment, but an extra £187 for Navigator 6 software to activate the GPS functionality sounds steep
CNET.co.uk judgement:
The speed jump from 3G to HSDPA is amazing -- especially on a screen as huge and sharp as the Ameo's. This ungainly magnetic smart phone should attract anyone seeking the highest mobile Web speeds, although a terrible keyboard means it'll never challenge ultra-mobile PCs or laptops
