What is it: Handheld console with two screens, a stylus and wireless Internet play
What we think: The slick new design and brighter screens are an impressive improvement over the original DS

We like:
Slightly slimmed down, a lot sleeker and more attractive without sacrificing the many features of the original Nintendo DS; innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay without load times on a higher-resolution display than Game Boy Advance SP; remains backwards compatible with older GBA games; inclusion of Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities and touch screen allows for growing list of original and fun games; no increase in price over original DS
We don't like:
Third-party support hasn't matched originality and ingenuity of Nintendo's games; darker models just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod; multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan
CNET.co.uk judgement:
With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS
