Wish this review had come out earlier! I was bought one of these for my birthday and while it looked promising the kit didn't really live up to the hype.

I've since given it to a member of my family who prefers form over function :-) and bought myself an alternative system that uses Panasonic BL-C10 Pan and Tilt Cameras which I am very pleased with.

The major gripes I had were that this system didn't include powerful enough functions and didn't allow me to have visual verification. As Rory noted, what good is it if you get a text message and nobody is around? The cops would laugh at you on the phone! For all I know it could be a burglar or maybe just a false alarm (I had a few of those....). So, for me, visual verification is most important. The process - Get the alert, Check into the house using the pan/tilt cam, confirm if it's a burglar and then finally phone the police. I could even show them if they wanted proof.

Overall, I like the 'idea' of the product and see anything web based as the way forward but the Alertme system just doesn't cut the mustard.
