Typical price: £220
What is it: Freeview PVR with built-in DVD player and recorder
What we think: Not the easiest machine to use, but picture quality is good and it has plenty of useful features

We like:
Decent amount of features; lots of storage space; option to backup to DVD is handy if you're a hoarder
We don't like:
Menus; sluggish controls; only one tuner
You might also need:
HDMI cable

Great little machine for a sensible price, although its feature set and load times won't set the world alight
Panasonic SC-BTX70
Well-specified and its picture quality is first-rate, but it doesn't quite sound awesome enough to justify its cost
