Typical price: £180
What is it: Dual tuner Freeview recorder with 80GB hard drive
What we think: The Sagem is a workmanlike Freeview recorder that doesn't do anything special -- just dual tuners and a large hard drive for a modest price

We like:
Simple interface; nice remote; modest price; TopUp TV compatibility
We don't like:
Mundane box; small hard drive by modern standards; can't record two channels simultaneously
You might also need:
Aerial; TopUp TV subscription
CNET UK judgement:
The Sagem PVR-7280T is a mid-range recorder that's perfect for the modern home thanks to its modest hard-drive capacity and easy-to-use recording system. The box itself is mundane, and it won't record two channels at once, but if you're looking for a cut-price version of the Panasonic and Humax power recorders, it's still worth buying

So far, only Panasonic has tried to steal this market away from Humax and Sagem, who are now on their third- or fourth-generation recorders. When Freeview PVRs arrived, it was easy to see how the ability to pause live TV and record to a hard drive would revolutionise the way we watch TV. The first-generation devices only had one tuner though, and hence the ability to only record and watch one channel. When dual tuner devices arrived, the dream was finally realised -- you could record one channel to the hard drive while watching another

Sagem PVR 7280T: French Freeview recording
The latest Freeview recorder from those clever hommes across the Channel packs dual tuners, an 80GB hard drive and a TopUp TV slot. It's not the best looking model on the market, but if you're yet to take to the PVR dream, it's a good way to get started in time for Christmas

Sagem's PVR6280T (another catchy name, nice work guys) is a new Freeview recorder, with dual tuners and an 80GB hard drive. Power to the people we say -- now all we need is something on Freeview worth recording
