Typical price: £550
What is it: High-end DVD-Video, DVD-Audio and SACD player with upscaling capability
What we think: Much more expensive than most DVD players, Denon rewards the investment with features, connectivity and excellent performance

We like:
Performance; wealth of connectivity; video-upscaling capability; appearance
We don't like:
Uncomfortable remote; no DivX playback; no RS-232 control
You might also need:
RGB Scart cable; component cable; DVI/HDMI cable
CNET UK judgement:
If you own a high-definition compatible display, you owe it to yourself to buy a DVD player that can drive it to the peak of its performance. The DVD-2910 is expensive, but it's guaranteed future-proof thanks to its modern connection roster. If you do own a state-of-the-art system, the DVD-2910 will service it with upscaled video and high-resolution audio. If you're serious about home entertainment, this is a wise investment

LinkTheater DVD player: Buffalo's bison
On paper, Buffalo's LinkTheater is one of the most advanced DVD players ever made. Sure, it'll play your Police Academy DVDs like everything else, but it's also a quasi-media centre, with the ability to link wirelessly to your home network to play DivX movies, music and photos
