What is it: A Freeview receiver with integrated 80GB hard drive recorder
What we think: A quality Freeview receiver and hard drive recorder in one, the PVR-8000T is effectively the digital terrestrial equivalent of Sky+

We like:
Large 80GB HDD gives 40 hours storage; no image or sound degradation on recordings; ease of use
We don't like:
Can't simultaneously watch and record; relatively loud hard drive
You might also need:
Optical Audio Cable, RF Loopthrough Cable
CNET.co.uk judgement:
The Humax PVR-8000T is much like the Internet and the iPod -- once you use it, you wonder how you ever lived without it. However, while it's a brilliant piece of equipment to have in the home, the lack of dual tuners to let you watch something different from what you're recording is surprisingly restrictive

Humax PVR-9200T: Freeview doubled
Could this be the best Freeview recorder yet? On paper, the Humax PVR-9200T beats even Panasonic's PVR, with twin tuners and space for 100 hours of recordings. But at £250, how will it compete with combi hard drive/DVD recorders?

It's playback time: Freeview hard-drive recorders
If you've not yet made the upgrade to Freeview, you should think about spending that little bit more and buying an integrated recorder. These devices don't just record, they also enable you to pause live TV, rewind through what you've been watching and cut out the ad breaks...
