Humax Foxsat-HD (freesat)
The Humax Foxsat-HD is a top class high-definition receiver and gets the freesat service off to a great start. All that's needed now is more freesat HD channels to truly make the most of its high definition capabilities
Sony BDP-S760
The PlayStation 3 is no longer the only Sony Blu-ray player you should consider buying. As well as offering an up-to-the-minute feature set, Sony's stand-alone BDP-S760 leaves the company's games console for dead in the all-important picture and sound departments
Panasonic DMR-BS750
We've given this excellent machine a score of 9, but it comes with the obvious 'but', which is simply that it's far too expensive. £900 is more than enough to buy a £300 freesat PVR and a £200 Blu-ray player and still have pots of cash left over. Sure, the Blu-ray recording is unique, but is it really that valuable to you?
LG BD370
The LG BD370 is a terrific Blu-ray player. Support for both YouTube and media files like DivX and MPEG-4 plays a huge part in our love for this machine. MKV playback is really the icing on the cake, taking the BD370 from being a good Blu-ray player to a very good all-rounder
Philips BDP3000/05
The Philips BDP3000/05 lacks DTS-HD MA decoding and, annoyingly, requires that you supply a 1GB USB memory stick in order to access BD-Live content. But it's well-built, speedy to load discs and delivers good picture quality. All in all, it's a good budget buy
LG BD390
Quite how LG has managed to cram so many features into the very affordable BD390 without compromising on performance is simply beyond us. We're not about to complain though
Samsung HT-BD8200
The Samsung HT-BD8200 is a truly solid performer, and well worth considering if it fits in with your current equipment stylistically. But it's not the best-specified machine in terms of connectivity -- if you're looking for an AV receiver, you'd be much better off with a separate decoder and speaker system. This machine's picture and sound quality are both top-notch, though, and it's an excellent companion for a hi-def screen, especially a wall-mounted Samsung display
Humax Foxsat-HDR
As the first freesat PVR on the market, the Humax Foxsat-HDR would have sold even if it was utter rubbish. Luckily, it's brilliant and anyone who buys one will have a sturdy, easy-to-use machine that looks fantastic under their TV and boasts impressive picture quality
Sony BDP-S350
Finally, a Blu-ray player from Sony for everyone to get excited about. This player is relatively quick to load discs, picture performance is superb, and its wonderful menu system and speed at dealing with interactive features make it well worth its bargain price. It's just a shame it took Sony so long to get this player on the market
Humax PVR-9300T
The 9300T is a worthy replacement for the 9200T, offering masses of storage space and superb recording quality. Unfortunately, the operating noise is ludicrous
