What is it: Personal DAB digital radio
What we think: Slick looks, but reception isn't good enough and it seems a bit no-frills

We like:
Great looking silver finish; fantastic battery life; headphones that act as the aerial
We don't like:
One of the biggest personal DAB units available; very variable reception; could have done with a built-in FM tuner and a remote control
You might also need:
You might want to invest in a sleeve to keep it looking pristine
CNET UK judgement:
When the reception is good enough, this is a decent radio, with great sound quality and a nice, uncluttered look. It is noticeably light on extras, and could have done with some simple additions like a remote control on the headphone jack. It's also a bit on the chunky side

Gear Envy: Pure PocketDAB 1000
The PocketDAB 1000 reminds us of a PowerBook, with a simple brushed metal finish and minimalist styling. A large, blue backlit screen makes it easy to see the information supplied with digital radio broadcasts. On the downside, it has no alarm clock, no recording, no rechargeable batteries, and no FM radio -- which is tedious, as we sometimes struggled to get good DAB reception on the move. Fancy tucking the DAB 1000 in your pocket?
