What is it: A bulky combination DAB / FM radio
What we think: This radio has noshed on one too many Big Macs -- be prepared to sacrifice most of your bedside table to its chubby body. It's the biggest DAB we've tested so far and, for a radio of this size, the sound quality is uninspiring

We like:
Indestructible casing; glossy fascia; big LCD display
We don't like:
Schizophrenic performance; tinny sound quality
You might also need:
An SD card will let you store radio and a headphone to phono cable can rig the Aviator into your HIFI
CNET UK judgement:
There's nothing more sickening than a fat radio, and the Aviator is one lardy monster. It's a mystery how the designers managed to create such a behemoth out of the same components we've seen packed into devices half this size. As if the unwieldy scale of the Aviator wasn't deterrent enough, the radio sounds weak and lacks bass -- there's little definition to the low end and broadcasts end up sounding wimpy and flat

BBC doubles iPlayer radio quality, DAB weeps
The BBC just doubled the quality of the iPlayer's live radio service, as well as switching from Real Player to Flash streaming. And we think this could be a massive blow to DAB, too
