What is it: Hard-disk-based portable media centre and PVR
What we think: Truly excellent media player, but optional and costly plugins should be in the box

"Pricey but worth every penny"
What I like:
The lovely tele on the move
What I don't like:
The hassle and cost of the plug ins
Review:
Well I will start with the only bad thing about this product. Which is the plug ins. To use it to it's full potential you need to spend another 50 quid on the plug ins and 70 quid on the DVR station. So figure around 380 for the finished product. But it is worth that, I think. the other thing is that if you lose the 605 (gulp) you have to buy the plug ins again. Also if you want to buy another one, say a 705 or a 605 for yourself, you need another set too. There is also no discount for buying the lot. when someone cracks the encoding this will be a 10 product. Until that time it is an 8. Better for TV than the iPod though. Get one if you are on the move all the time and rich. I am going for the 705 later this year, when I go somewhere tax free to buy it. My purchase of the 605 was one for the use of the more discerning half on the plane.

In our recent Sonos ZonePlayer S5 story we said the S5 was the most affordable entry into the world of Sonos. That was a total lie, we're afraid: the cheapest way is to win one from us
