Typical price: £129
What is it: Eco-friendly wind-up MP3 and video player
What we think: Costly, but a highly useful product for music-loving long-term travellers

We like:
Eco-friendliness; general functionality; usefulness; no batteries required; doubles up as a portable phone charger
We don't like:
Price; no belt clip; line-in socket should be 3.5mm; torch is utterly pointless on an MP3 player; included earphones are abysmal
You might also need:
Better earphones; dreadlocks
CNET UK judgement:
An extremely niche product and as a result of its high price, probably only one for campers, travellers, the seriously pro-green or anyone desiring music when they can't guarantee mains power exists. Costly, but too cute to dislike

Gear Envy: Baylis Eco Media Player EP-MX71
Hiking, camping and an eco-friendly MP3 and video player, oh my! This player is best buds with the environment and runs off pure elbow grease. But is it just a giant wind-up?
