Typical price: £200
What is it: 20GB hard-drive MP3 player with FM radio and colour screen
What we think: It's only a little heftier than the original H10, but you get a lot more storage for your music and photos with the 20GB version

We like:
Sophisticated, compact design; solid sound quality and nice equaliser options; excellent FM and voice recording; photo-friendly colour screen; supports Windows Media DRM 10
We don't like:
Controls aren't as intuitive as those on the iPod; line-in recording requires an optional cradle that's not available yet; no album art support; can't act as a USB host for PC-less transfer of photos; battery is not swappable, as with the 5GB and 6GB H10
You might also need:
Good headphones
CNET UK judgement:
The H10 includes nearly every coveted feature, but navigating the player controls can be frustrating

Well, they might claim to be hard drives, but you're unlikely to catch any of them tearing themselves out of their Dixons packaging and rampaging about, smashing and terrifying the toasters in aisle three. There's a good reason for this: hard drives are actually mechanical devices that store your music on platters that spin at high speed -- like a really, really clever record player...
