Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1
Although its photos are fairly ordinary, the 10.2-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 is a very impressive fusion of style and technology. Among the clever features up its super-slim sleeve are its full-resolution high-speed shooting, excellent low-light mode and touchscreen interface

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1
The 9-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 superzoom offers 20x zoom and speedy, best-in-class performance. It also boasts some truly interesting features and solid video capability. Picture quality isn't the HX1's strongest point, but this camera is worth considering nonetheless

Sony Alpha DSLR-A300
While most dSLRs use CMOS sensors in order to provide live view, Sony's DSLR-A300 doesn't: It offers instant live view via a tilting LCD screen. Now that's pretty cool. Another bonus is that Sony's built-in Super SteadyShot anti-shake system works with any compatible lens, allowing you to produce vibrant, clear shots, no matter what the circumstances

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1
The screen on the Cyber-shot DSC-G1 is so big, you can almost gather friends around it to watch slides. With its MP3 capabilities, you can even set your photos to your favourite songs. Fitting comfortably into your jacket pocket, take the DSC-G1's show on the road

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9
Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-H9 -- and its almost identical sibling, the DSC-H7 -- offers a whopping 15x optical zoom, along with an excellent flip-up LCD screen. It's perfect for shooting outdoors in daytime -- especially sport, children and animals

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50
Identical to the company's T30 in every way except the screen, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50 is small and stylish, has optical image stabilisation and produces pleasing images. It all comes down to whether you like the touchscreen interface -- you might find it fiddly, but if you use auto a lot then the extra screen space may be worth it

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5
Sony's Cyber Shot DSC-H5 sits at the top of the company's current crop of megazoom cameras. Fittingly, it has all the specs you'd expect in a camera of its class, including a large, image-stabilised 12x optical zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD screen, a 7.2-megapixel CCD sensor and a full set of manual controls

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2
Thanks to good image quality and a big, bright LCD that's usable in sunlight, this hybrid still camera/camcorder is a surprisingly good point-and-click 5-megapixel snapshooter -- assuming you're willing to pay a premium for a camera with a 3x zoom, no manual controls and no bundled memory card

7.4
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1
Despite the headline touch-screen and photo-album features, the DSC-N1 remains a basic 8-megapixel, 3x optical-zoom ultracompact camera for everyday photography, with reasonable image quality

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H1
Although slightly larger and heavier than its competitors, the DSC-H1 holds its own thanks to a broad feature set, speedy performance and 12x optical zoom. We have a few quibbles, but the H1 may please enthusiasts hankering for a camera with an extended focal range
