Pentax K-7
The 14.6-megapixel K-7 is a great digital SLR. While Pentax's lens range isn't as good as that of rivals, and the camera lacks some finesse, it packs in plenty of genuinely useful features that its competitors just don't have. The depth and richness of its images are particularly striking, and it's built to last too

Pentax X70
Pentax's 12-megapixel X70 is a strong first attempt at a superzoom camera. It's not the fastest performer, but its build quality is solid, the 24x optical zoom is flexible and fun, and its photos are good compared to those of rivals. It also offers plenty of shooting options, while being easy to use

Pentax Optio W80
The rugged, 12-megapixel Optio W80 is an attractive little beast that can withstand a good deal of physical punishment. It's over-reliant on its menu system, but it's a versatile snapper, offering a 5x wideangle zoom, a high-def movie mode and a sensitivity range that goes all the way up to ISO 6,400

Pentax Optio P70
The 12-megapixel Optio P70 boasts an exemplary ultra-compact design, has great features and offers relatively good pictures for the target audience -- those who want to step up from taking snaps with their phone. We wish it was speedier though, and its low-light shots aren't great

Pentax Opio M60
The Optio range has always stuck to the company's simple, accessible philosophy, and the Pentax Optio M60 is no exception. This 10-megapixel point-and-shoot compact camera is very slim and light, looks very cute and packs a few interesting features, for a very friendly price of less than £100

Pentax K-m
Will Pentax's newest attempt at challenging its rivals, Canon and Nikon, work? Rod Lawton introduces us to the 10-megapixel K-m, a digital camera designed specifically with beginners in mind. Pentax Optio S12
A new edition to the S series of ultracompacts, the Pentax Optio S12 is small but solid. Packing a whopping 12 megapixels into its ultracompact body as well as a crisp 64mm (2.5-inch) screen, this camera will give you natural and realistic images for an excellent price

Pentax Optio V20
First came face detection; smile shutter mode followed shortly after and now the Pentax Optio V20 sports a 'blink detection' feature. This compact also boasts a generous 5x zoom lens to produce sharp images without distortion. With its large screen, this camera is a good budget option

Pentax K20D
It's neither entry level nor professional dSLR, but the Pentax K20D sits comfortably in between the two categories. Boasting 14 megapixels and a load of excellent features, this shooter can run with the big boys while still being small enough to carry without hurting your back

Pentax K200D
The Pentax K200D is a user-friendly, entry-level dSLR. If you've got old Pentax lenses hiding in the closet, you can give them some fresh air with this compatible camera. Its use of AA batteries and SD/SDHC cards make it accessible and you'll find some surprisingly clever features

Pentax Optio A40
We associate Pentax compacts with cheery, child-like styling, but the top-of-the-range Optio A40 is striving to be taken rather more seriously. Optical image stabilisation, a 12-megapixel resolution, fast performance and excellent image quality all bolster its case -- it's still cute, though

Pentax Optio Z10
It's not easy for a camera company to make a small, good-looking camera that takes nice pictures. With its sliding lens cover design, the Pentax Optio Z10 favours a long 7x optical zoom lens and nice image quality -- all excellent qualities for a pocketable compact camera

Pentax K100D Super
The Pentax K100D Super lives up to its name with its easy-to-use operation and well-saturated, colourful images. The 6-megapixel dSLR is great value and delivers similar results to some 10-megapixel competitors. For someone looking to switch from film to digital, this Super camera will ease the pain in transition

Pentax Optio A30
An understated 10-megapixel compact, the Pentax Optio A30's cutesy menu system and fully automatic 'green mode' make this as user-friendly as lower-spec cameras in the Optio range. But with a high resolution and optical image stabilisation, this merits its higher price

Pentax Optio M30
Top choice for kids is the Pentax Optio M30 -- a slim, 7-megapixel point-and-shoot that, among other things, can meow like a cat when you take a picture. It costs just £110, and its pictures are more than acceptable for its young target market

Pentax K100D
Following 30 years of absence, Pentax has brought the K back. The K100D does a wonderful job of balancing the needs of amateur and experienced photographers. It doesn't have some of the more fancy features that you'll find on more expensive cameras, but for its price, the K-100D is a steal

Pentax Optio A10
Pentax's Optio A10 boasts some impressive specs, including 8-megapixel resolution, sensor-shifting shake reduction, ISO 800 sensitivity and a high-resolution 232,000-pixel 64mm (2.5-inch) LCD. It produces decent images under a variety of conditions, but suffers from excessive noise above ISO 200

Pentax Optio W10
This postman-worthy camera is specially sealed to prevent damage from the elements, completely submersible in water to a depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes, and impenetrable to dust particles as fine as talcum powder. Sadly, it suffers from a dim display, mediocre performance and serious image artefacting
