We like:
Fast autofocus; high-magnification viewfinder for its class; dual memory-card slots; relatively simple, straightforward operation; built-in wireless flash and image stabilisation; helpful SteadyShot indicator
We don't like:
Smallish grip; default settings produce sub-optimal photos

The Sony Alpha DSLR-A330 is a solid entry-level dSLR that will surely appeal to some, but, unless you really want live-view shooting, its cheaper sibling, the Alpha DSLR-A230, is a better deal

A modest update to its predecessor, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A300, the Alpha DSLR-A330 offers essentially the same feature set in a redesigned body with sufficient quality- and performance-enhancing firmware tweaks to merit the term 'upgrade'. Like its predecessor, the result is a generally solid, if not stellar, entry-level digital SLR.
