What is it: 12-megapixel compact with 7x zoom
What we think: Theoretically great but disappointing in reality. You can match its picture quality at half the price

We like:
Definition is suprisingly good at low ISOs; 7x optical zoom is good in a camera of this size; sports fans may be tempted by the 11fps shooting
We don't like:
Average lens quality; picture quality drops off rapidly as the ISO goes up; face-detection modes are muddled and only partially effective; cramped controls
CNET UK judgement:
The Nikon Coolpix S630's specs may be mouth-watering, but real-world shooting quickly reveals the limitations of its technology. While the S630 looks nice, its controls are cramped and awkward, making the camera doubly disappointing. The technology might explain the price, but the results are pretty average

But how well does it all work? Continue Reading...
