Typical price: £170
What is it: 12-megapixel designer touchscreen compact
What we think: Looks and feels like a million quid, but handles and shoots like a used fiver

We like:
One of the best-looking digital compacts ever; acceptable images
We don't like:
Annoying touch interface; screen almost useless in bright light; slow controls
You might also need:
2GB Secure Digital memory card (from £10); microfibre cloth (from £5) to clean the touchscreen of fingerprints
CNET UK judgement:
It seems as though Kodak blew all its budget for the V1273 on designing the gorgeous steel case, with none left over for a decent touchscreen, speedy interface or smart processing. A great style icon, but frustrating to use for anything other occasional snaps
