With a high-end price tag but middling specs, the Pentax Optio A40 doesn't stand out. Picture quality is first-class, with optical image stabilisation and dynamic range adjustment looking interesting, but the toy-like styling isn't for us

The Pentax Optio A40 is at the top end of the company's Optio range, boasting 12 megapixels and a £185 price tag. The Pentax Optio can pack in as many swirly chrome accents and 12 megapixel sensors as it likes, but the cutesy Optio styling will always make us say, "Aww, bless"
