Typical price: £180
What is it: Lightweight 12x superzoom
What we think: Some unwieldy controls can't overshadow a great 12x zoom lens and capable optical image stabilisation

We like:
Great lens; optical image stabilisation; small yet grippable
We don't like:
Some clunky controls; compression artefacts; slow processing; horrible viewfinder
You might also need:
Camera case or bag
CNET UK judgement:
The Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS has a few minor flaws but none that really outweigh the quality of the giant 12x zoom lens and efficient optical image stabilisation system. Although processing is slow and some of the controls feels unwieldy, image quality is excellent
