Much has changed since Canon shipped its last G-series model, the PowerShot G6, back in late 2004. Most significantly, you couldn't find a dSLR for £400, which made the G6 the next best thing for enthusiasts. To be fair, even the smallest dSLR can't match the PowerShot G7's relatively compact, jacket-pocketable design.
