We like:

Very compact and neatly designed; bright, contrasty LCD; charging stand with space for a second battery; Green mode for quick snapshots; 640 x 480-pixel movie mode

We don't like:

Memory card has to be purchased separately; flesh tones slightly pink

The latest model in Pentax's credit-card-sized Optio S range is instantly desirable thanks to its size, tidy design and bright LCD. Ease of use, a wide range of scene modes, a high-res movie mode and generally good snapshot performance add to its appeal

The Pentax Optio S5n is the successor to the Pentax Optio S5i. Arriving just five months later, it's very similar to the earlier model, with identical dimensions, weight and lens. The major differences are the larger 51mm (2.0-inch) LCD, versus the 46mm (1.8-inch) screen on the S5i, and the absence of an optical viewfinder.
