Typical price: £1,000
What is it: An 8.2-megapixel semi-professional dSLR with 5fps continuous shooting
What we think: A nicely designed dSLR with class-leading resolution, speed, and low-light performance

We like:
Excellent low-light performance; fast and responsive; straightforward controls; nice balance of features for both experienced and learning photographers
We don't like:
No spot meter; pop-up flash casts shadow with some lenses; viewfinder provides only 95 percent view; average battery life; 1.6x lens-conversion factor
You might also need:
A CompactFlash Type I or II card with a capacity of at least 256MB
CNET.co.uk judgement:
This 8-megapixel camera should be on your list if you're looking for a semipro dSLR
