Comment: pls make good servises ,accessaries not available
servise centre in india/kerala very bad, what can i do
Good: VERY EASY TO USE
Bad: BATTERY LIFE
Comment: HAD THIS FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW AND I USE IT FOR WEDDINGS AND PORTRAIT WORK AS WELL AS MACRO.
IT IS VERY LIGHT AND EASY TO USE HAND HELD WITH FAST PRIME LENSES.I READY THAT PROFESSIONALS THINK YOU SHOULD USE NIKON OR CANON FOR WORK, BUT I DO NOT AGRREE, I HAVE HAD PLENTY OF WORK, AND HAVE HAD NO COMPLAINTS FROM MY CUSTOMERS. THEY HAVE ALL BEEN HAPPY. JUST BECAUSE I DONT USE THE MOST EXPENSIVE TOOLS DOES DONT MEAN THAT I CAN NOT DO A GOOD JOB.
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK.
Good: Can autofocus while shooting video; Fast continuous shooting mode; Very good image quality; In-viewfinder level; Multi-shot noise reduction;
Bad: Battery life
Comment: It is an excellent camera. I spent considerable amount of time researching the products for reasonable price and eventually decided on this one. Good value for money (I bought a standard lense kit), light weight, many good features. Video and picture quality is excellent! In some reviews I read it is a great entry level camera but Im sure even a pro would appreciate it. It may be a bit too small for someone with big hands. It has many shooting modes although I shoot mostly on manual. You can easly use higher ISO (like 800) and there's not too much noise. And one of my fav (and what I was looking for in a camera when I was buying one) is a multiangle screen. It really makes life easier. I could go on and on about the good sides. I am really pleased with this product and I do recommend it to anyone.
Comment: Dear Pazz 15 February 2011
You can buy a camera without the kitlens. I did so and saved me some money to buy a better lens.
Good lenses are expensive, but to meet op with the quality of the a55 (and all other good cameras) you "must" buy other lenses. A lot of lenses are coming down in price. For instance the 70-200G lens (for me the best lens i ever workes with) was a year ago to expensive to buy. Fortunately has Sony reduced the price and the exchange rate of the € / Swissfranc is that low, that i could effort such a quality lens.
The Zeiss 16-80mm often acclaimed that it has a slow AF, that is with the a55 not true at all, it is very fast indeed and without much sound!. This because of the quick AF of the a55.
You can try the Zeiss 16-80mm or the more expensiv, but faster ssm Zeiss 24-70mm. The quality of the image from both lenses is supurbly good! Good luck with your choises and a55 ;o)
Nice regards José Chaguaceda. Zwitserland
Good: Nearly perfect! super handling,
Bad: Battery in combination with 70-200G lens is quickly empty
Comment: Nice review but with the jumping focus, is not accurate. You can adjust the focus in three different options. AF-S, AF-A and AF-C.
AF-S = Focus one time and locked.
AF-A = Automatik switch between moving and frosen objects.
AF-C= Focus continuance.
You hat the setting wrong and therefore also your finding and opinion about the AF.
I think that the a55 is an masterpiece that hits the technoligy benchmark at a higher level. I hope that Sony in the near future, will make a full-frame model with the same inovative features and quality as the brilliant a55. I will buy it at once :o)
I`m using the a55 with the Zeiss 16-80mm, Zeiss 24-70mm, SAL 30mm macro and the tremendous 70-200G. The fotos are incredible good.
It is an absolute joy to work with this camera!
After some Canon and Nikon (without doubt also very good cameras!) and other Sony`s, i found my camera that pleases me the most, in picturequality and handeling.
Good: for this price you get an awesome camera with superfast (10per second) and beautiful (16mp) pictures, super 1080p videos and a good, grippy body. the camera has a good menu and a perfect screen
Bad: I do not now anything bad about it
Comment: If I were YOU I WOULD BUY IT NOW
Good: very fast auto focus, 10fps superb HD video
Bad: the Sony lens that comes with it is WAY INFERIOR to the a200 (which I also have)
Comment: This was purchased after a lot of digging for info on the internet! my son races a DH bike and the action is fast and furious, my old a200 could not keep up with fast moving objects coming towards you (by the time the focus had locked the rider was 10-20 meters closer when the shutter did its job!!, So I dug deep and got myself the A55.
It performs really well, it locks on and takes sharp photos and videos! you can have 10fps, 6fps or 3.5fps, it depends on your style really, At 10fps there is less control over exposure, but it makes people look when your firing it off at that rate!!!!.
In auto mode you can no-longer set focus area or metering mode like you can on the A200.
Its also smaller than the other DSLR's (I prefer my larger, heavier A200 in this respect!!!).
But my biggest gripe is the 18-55 SAM lens that comes with it!, it is far far inferior to the A200 lens(18-70), and you are paying loads more money!!! the zoom is really stiff and jerky, the amount of movement in the end part is bad (you can 'rock the end' quite a lot.
If you have lenses ONLY buy the body you have been warned.
I may put up a utube vid if theres enough interest.
In the last 3 months of owning it I have taken 1256 jpeg and 795 raw photos. I DO like it a lot,and it is really fast at focusing, just let down by a cheap lens.
Good: Sensor, HD Video Quality, 3D Panorama, Picture Quality, Built in Stabilisation
Comment: Stunning picture quality on stills and video. I haven't had any problems with it and would recommend it to friends and relatives.
Good: Gps + slr + 1080i
Bad: sold out
Comment: I have beenlocking for this camera for 2 months and it is impossible to find it.
Good: Easy to hold
Comment: I bought Sony a33 last month. First i thought it would be cool as i saw through the sony webisite but after i have used it, i feel regret of it because i cant take a video for too long. It was overheating so how can use it for the future with that camera. My next destination i wont buy any dslr camera from sony.
