Good: Superb resolving power and sharpness with best quality Nikon glass, excellent metering and super quick flexible focusing modes
Comment: This is a superb camera for landscape and studio work. I have the 800E version and have not regretted the purchase to work alongside my D700.
Be prepared to upgrade to a core I5 processor or higher to speed up processing and work in Raw to bring out the best from the camera. The results are well worth the time and effort.
Good: resolution, dynamic range low light capabilities
Bad: It came 10 years too late for me :-)
Comment: The file sizes now enable me to crop images just as I used to do with film,so much detail available,Im really enjoying the freedom that gives.
Big files mean big storage and a computer upgrade. So, 64 bit O/S. lots of ram and SSDs for boot and scratch have delivered a reasonable working speed.
Good: Fantastic iamage quality
Comment: I bought the camera just before embarking on a months holiday in South Africa and have no regrets about purchasing the D800 the results are stunning.
Comment: Please Please Cnet update your review.
You are still saying the sensor is the same as the Leica sensor.
How can anyone take your review seriously with such a glaring error on a key point ?
Good: Fab image quality
Bad: 2nd card should have been compact flash
Comment: The Leica Sensor is 18mp,the D800 is 36mp so how can they be the same in each camera ?
Comment: far higher resolution than I need but hey,I want one.
Good: excelent camera and leading technology
Bad: small hard dis but it enough
Comment: i need thus camera to be photographer to compute with shot of professional photo graphyer thus is Nikon world email me if you give me the camera to working with the best and leading technology it is contains such attributes, arranged in six areas: functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability in photography world email me back firstname.lastname@example.org
Comment: Complaining about the price of this seems silly. It's a pro-tool, and comparable in price with comparable products- except that it actually excels in some categories, like resolution.
Good: Spec sounds very good
Bad: Won't know until I've used one but lack of U1 and U2 buttons (as found on D7000 for example) looks like a missed opportunity
Comment: I agree with Chris Nation. Given the D800 is about half the price of the D4 I can't see why you keep going on about the "humongous price" As someone who shoots portraits, weddings and live music, I can see it being more suited to my needs than a D4 too, so the price really isn't an issue.
