Typical price: £999
What is it: Stylish desktop computer with integrated monitor and 1.8GHz processor
What we think: The trim, new iMac G5 receives an updated processor, but the machine is still more about style than substance

We like:
Attractive, slim design; includes the G5 chip; widescreen display; quiet operation; built-in speakers sound better than expected
We don't like:
Too little RAM for default configs; positioning of screen not as flexible as on last iMac; still uses a one-button mouse; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cost extra
CNET UK judgement:
The iMac is as much a design choice as it is a computing choice, perfect for people who need to look good while they work
