Good: excellent dimensions&weight, zooming capabilities, HD recording, static pics in good light conditions
Bad: iso400++ images in low light conditions not satisfying, sometimes scene recognition is slow and also the time between shots is big if flash is used
Comment: Static images is the thing you want most from a camera of this kind. w690 gives you *excellent* still images when light condition is above average. Either outdoor or indoor the result is guaranteed when "lights are on". In case the build in flash is used the results also is trouble free. Problems involving stil images begin when light conditions are under than mediocre *and* flash cannot be used... In that case iso400 and beyond does not satisfy me at all. In my opinion taking shots with w690 using iso400++ without flash is "over trying". Also in rarely cases the scene recognition is mistaken and camera thinks that we are trying to take a shot using macro which is a wrong guesswork. HD video is *great*, no prob at all! Zooming during HD recording is very good also - noiseless! Battery is fast *full recharging*. Dimensions&weight are ideal. Generally is a good buy. If the dudgement is only still images then I give 3.5/5. But HD is great so my rate is 4/5.
Good: Respectable specs for a point and shoot
Comment: I have a dslr but i wanted a back up unit for my travel and where it will be used by my family when im using my SLR
