Good: So tough it hurts! I am really impressed by it.
Bad: I think I could live without the built in altimeter.
Comment: I bought this after breaking four cameras in the past year. They go rock climbing and scrambling with me, and they really don't like the knocks. So when I saw the SW1030 it looked ideal., and it is. The black model is definitely macho styling, but it does the jobs and takes the knocks, surviving everything it has been thrown at so far. Result, some excellent pictures from breathtaking locations. Slightly bizarrely, it also survived producing a video film from inside a pint of cider. Don't ask. But a quick rinse down by a slightly bemused barmaid soon had the camera back to new.
Good: Ruggedness and resolution
Bad: Lacks tele-focus, the flash produces unwanted shadows
Comment: Almost the best point and shoot camera. Except for flash photography which produces very noticeable shadows on the left of the object.
Auto-focus on panoramic shooting is not at par.
But a rating of 8 is given since I bought this camera not really for quality, or else I would buy a DSLR, but for its ruggedness. Its main purpose is to be used on the pool and on the beach.
My son loves to swim so this camera is perfect! The envy of every one on the beach or the pool. A real head-turner. Whenever I go into the water with my son everyone just freezes in awe! :)
I'm the only one in our province (Palawan, Philippines) who have this camera. (as of this writing).
