Good: it came with a good specification
Comment: Bought the s9100 though Amazon to replace Ricoh CX2 which I broke. The first s9100 would not down load photos directly from the camera so it was replaced. However the second s9100, after 15 days, when turned on just froze, the lense would project and the only way to turn the camera off and retract the lense was to remove and re-insert the battery. Have now returned it for a refund. Nikon it would seem have lost it when it comes to quality and reliability - shame.
Bad: Many things.
Comment: It's an ORDINARY point and shoot machine. It emulates 18X. All results are fogy -a strange soften Photoshop effect- Beyond 10X is heavily shaky. It's not ergonomic, neither shutter button nor video record button. It's not clear it's recording or not. It's SLOW. Very slow. It's USB socket is rare version micro-USB. You have to carry that cable everywhere. It has a lithium battery without external charger. Battery display is not informative; it only displays FULL or LOW. It records video 100MB/minute @1080P. Video result looks like 1900x1080 webcam.
Good: Great picture quality even at high zoom. Great reach with the x18 zoom. Easy navigation of menus and shooting modes with one touch video recording at 1080p.
Bad: Poor video quality in lower light situations ( my Nikon L20 and even my Nokia N900 outperformed in this scenario!) Noise of zoom is captured on video. Manually controlled pop up flash takes some getting used to as does its position on the far left.
Comment: I upgraded my L20 to a S9100 and am generally pleased with this decision except that the L20 outperforms its big brother (S9100) in lower light video recording and the irritating noise that is captured on the video when zooming. Other than that a good buy.
