Good: Zoom, Canon Quality, Ergonomics
Comment: Having owned the SX30is, until it was stolen, and subsequently replaced by my insurance company (thanks guys you came through) with the sx50HS, the improvements that have been made were all necessary in my view. In particular the ability to shoot RAW images as well as JPEG has helped my smile factor considerably since the SX50HS arrived at my doorstep. I love the ergonomics, the ability to capture images with that extraordinary zoom lens that would cost many extra dollars to replicate on my DSLR. (also a Canon - a 5D) I can do a lot more with just the one camera, and it's a lot faster than fiddling with lenses. It is true that the images suffer a little particularly at the extremities of the range, but really it's not a big deal. My best advice BUY IT. What's not to love? Comparing other similarly priced cameras reveals only that Canon are at the top of the tree, and likely to stay that way. The SX50HS is compatible with my Speedlite, which is awesome, and really the only accesory needed is a UV filter for the lens, thankfully Canon thought of this and provided the screw mount for the filter. Good job Canon,

Good: searching/purchasing/patiently waiting
Bad: it looks fine
Comment: greetings...having searched, turned it over top to bottom and researched again, the buying act is in process,a little patience is now required. the price dropped to just $400.00,so considering it's starting point, that's fair...this is one camera that is expected to perform, that lense has been a big factor,it will accompany a 15x,a 20x,and a 30x. where i live is next to a nature reserve, the bird life is excellent along with the fauna...50x will come in handy...watch this space, who knows?...ronald.c.lee-harris.

Good: zoom
Bad: raw files cannot be used in photoshop, it converts them to a tiff file,
Comment: the feel is good and sturdy usual for canon, but my opinion is Canon seem to be stuck in a time warp, I dont know if the camera has a bracketing facility

Comment: How come you review this camera only days after it's release and yet still haven't reviewed the Nikon P510. I would like to see these two compared head to head especialy as the Nikon is now so much less expesive than the Canon ?

Good: good all rounder/genuine
Bad: nothing
Comment: greetings...this sx50 is one of the cameras being assesed. it has a lot going for it. to this point the reviews are hard to find. those who do look at it seem to be in favour of its credentials. the price is going down all-ready. canon is one of the very few cameras to be relied on in the quality area. will keep a very close watch on this one...regards...ronald.c.lee-harris.
