Good: Looks have grown on me, Performance is solid and in car features are good

Bad: Additional cost for options when compaired to US market. Global Car Ford, Really?

Comment: I love this car however there are a couple of things that are preventing me from going out to order one.

Firstly its the My Ford Sync. As reviewd, the 8 inch screen is great, and with the My Ford Sync 2.0 upgrade, it should be even better. One issue however is that Ford Dealers are currently accepting orders for a £750 sat nav version of My Sync but only providing a 5 inch screen. I have been told that the 8 inch is coming by Ford dealers, so why are they taking orders for the soon to be obsolete 5 inch version? No Dealer has confirmed that its a placeholder so I have to assume its a sub standard product thats £750 please.

Meanwhile US gets the Full MySync as Standard on their version of the ST3. Which brings me onto my second point, Prices in the UK verses the US Market.

Now I understand that its a different market however Ford are proudly advertising the Focus ST as a Global Car. Global Car, not Global Prices; ok well I understand that but things like Paint: UK gets Red standard, White £250 option, Metallic Black & Blue £550 and Tangereen Scream £750. US gets all Paint FoC except Tangereen Scream which works out to be £300 or so.

Now as I said before, I understnad its different markets but I specced a UK and a US ST3 to same specifications and the US car came out 8k (GBP) cheaper. Now the US had no sales tax as its dfferent per state but its typically between 5 and 10%. So even when you factor in our 20VAT and on the road prices, its still a lot cheaper. Dealers have advised me that the US car is a lower spec, but I don't buy that as a valid reason. Engine, MPG, Fuel Gradients (e.g. RONS) are indeed specified differently for different countries however its all relative and defanatly does not cover for the huge difference in price.

Could it be that they are tapping into a new US market??

Regardless, its not a huge point for me, just a niggling chip on my shoulder. The 8 inch vs 5 inch is my main reason for holding off my purchase, oh and the silver lining is that the cars will defanatly become cheaper once the initial rush to have it first has passed.

I want it

Good: Features

Bad: Styling

Comment: Styling looks afwul - ugly, minging, not sporty. Internet access is a good idea, but is it going to make the car more exciting to drive? Also adds to the cost. Volkswagen Golf GTI is probably a better buy, or you could get the new Astra VXR when it comes out next year.
