Verdict

The Canon Legria HF200 is more expensive than its rivals, but delivers a more extensive feature set. Although it lacks internal memory, the HF200 is also probably a better buy than its pricier and slightly classier-looking sister, the HF20

Good

  • Broad manual feature set is unusual in a camcorder of this size
  • Excellent video quality
  • Attractive, functional design

Bad

  • Comparatively expensive

In this review

Canon acquitted itself well with a nearly identical trio of flash-based AVCHD camcorders -- the HF10, HF11 and HF100. Follow-up models the Legria HF20 and Legria HF200 manage to improve upon their legacy. The only difference between the two models is colour, memory configuration and price: the all-black HF20 has 32GB built in and is available for around £760, while the grey HF200 has no built-in memory and costs around £600.

Read our in-depth review of the HF20 to see what these models can do.
