What is it: DVD camcorder with surround-sound recording
What we think: It's a solid DVD camcorder, as long as you don't mind fiddling with a touch-screen interface on a too-small display

We like:
Better-than-average video quality; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround-sound recording; decent still photos
We don't like:
No video light; occasional compression artefacts still noticeable; slightly grainy low-light video; LCD too small for touch-screen operation

The Sony Handycam DCR-DVD405 is a solid DVD camcorder, as long as you don't mind fiddling with a touch-screen interface on a too-small display
