What is it: A hardy rock of a camcorder for casual party or holiday use
What we think: MiniDV camcorders are still in the game. This is an extremely capable camcorder that captures well in brightly lit environments and doesn't stumble too hard when dusk falls. At this price there's not much to complain about

We like:
Big LCD screen; good-quality video capture in decent lighting conditions; simple operation
We don't like:
Low light performance can't hope to match 3CCD models; design is a little bland, though functional
You might also need:
You'll need a computer with a Firewire port to transfer and edit your captured footage
