Good: EPG recording
Bad: very slow machine
Comment: I have owned a Pioneer DVD recorder for 6 years and it worked brilliantly. They I decided to join the HD world since freeview became HD. I thought I should get the BR version of this recoder and I did. The machine is fairly complicated and not intuitive to operate. The main problem with it is that it is tooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooow to operate. It takes almost 25 sec to turn on and let you use the remote to do anything. I couldn't see any difference between the quality of the BR and the normal DVD, so paying this extra premium for BR was a waste of money.

Good: It promises heaps
Bad: I don't understand it
Comment: I'm 79 and unable to read diminished type in pastel colours on most web-sites. Im also partly deaf and manage to watch TV by being only about 18 inches from the screen. So far, I've managed to make one recording in the BW889 . Now how do I burn it? Some directions please?
Is there a users manual for the elderly?
