3 steps up its mobile Web game
For many years mobile Internet access was painfully expensive, but then came T-Mobile's Web'n'Walk tariff, which offered unlimited browsing for £7.50, and then 3's X-Series tariffs, which provided a similar service for £5 to Nokia N73 users.
Now 3 has taken the unlimited Web browsing element of the X-Series and opened it up to all its recently launched handsets, which means anyone buying a new phone from 3 can now get unlimited Internet access for just £5 extra every month.
Unlimited access isn't all it seems, though -- you're actually capped at 1GB usage per month, but that should be more than enough for most people. According to 3's press office, you could access over 1,000 mobile sites or download a few podcasts every day, each month, and still not reach the limit.
This move by 3 should prompt the rest of the mobile networks to start taking notice of their data tariffs, or at least that's what I hope. One thing I do know is that 3 and T-Mobile are leading the UK mobile Internet race, and soon everyone should be able to access the Web on their phones without breaking the bank.
