Seagate Replica
Available in 250GB and 500GB versions, the Replica external USB hard drive is the very definition of bother-free back-up. It doesn't offer enough flexibility or storage capacity to satisfy everyone, but, for those of a non-technical bent who don't have a huge collection of data, it's well worth a look

Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-300
Dispensing with bells and whistles, the Reader Pocket Edition PRS-300 ebook reader does one job and does it well. It's extremely easy to read text on its e-ink display, it's attractive and pocketable, and it's very simple to use. Overall, we think it's the best ebook reader currently on the UK market

Amazon Kindle (international version)
Finally available in the UK, the Kindle ebook reader is a smashing piece of kit. Its e-ink display closely resembles a printed page and poses little risk of eyestrain, it's undeniably well-designed, and it couldn't be easier to download ebooks. Amazon's digital bookstore could do with some work, though

Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-600
The Reader Touch Edition PRS-600 is a decent ebook reader with some intriguing capabilities, such as its touchscreen, which not only lets you turn pages with a swipe of a finger but also allows you to make annotations. It's not as simple to use as Amazon's Kindle, but it offers much more freedom when it comes to finding books

Hisense MP800H Media HD Player
The MP800H Media HD Player offers 1080p video playback, either via USB or over your home network, for a remarkably low price. This media streamer may not have as many features as a Popcorn Hour machine, but it costs less than half as much, and its playback capabilities will be good enough for most people

Nyko Wand Action Pak for Nintendo Wii
Fans of shooting games on the Wii should definitely investigate the Nyko Wand Action Pak pistol accessory. It's more comfortable to use for extended periods of time than competing gun accessories, it's surprisingly customisable, and it's not exactly expensive either

Popcorn Hour C-200
If you thought media streamers don't get better than the Popcorn Hour A-100 and A-110, the C-200 may make you revise your opinion. Offering a new design and even more features, including a slot for a Blu-ray drive, it's a great device that will be even better once a few bugs are ironed out

Sharp HTSB200
For those who are short on space but still want to boost the audio quality of their flat-screen TV, the long and slim HTSB200 2.1-channel surround-sound speaker bar is a decent option. Its performance at high volumes isn't great, but, at normal volumes, it adds a significant amount of oomph

Creative EP-630
If you want to step up from stock earbuds but aren't absurdly picky about audio quality and don't want to spend a fortune, the EP-630 earphones are a solid option. Durability may be an issue, but they're compact, comfortable, relatively stylish and offer good sound quality for the money

JVC Gumy
Exceptionally cheap, the Gumy earphones don't offer the most comfortable fit we've ever encountered, but they do provide better sound quality than stock earbuds, and they look better too, thanks to their colourful styling. If you're short of funds, they're a decent option

Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse
Fans of first-person shooters and other reflex-dependent games will find much to like in the wired G500 Gaming Mouse. Its 1,000MHz polling rate means it's very accurate, while it's also comfortable and highly customisable. It's not necessarily an obvious choice for strategy gamers, though

M-Audio Studiophile AV 30
The Studiophile AV 30 PC speaker set shares many features with the much-lauded, and more expensive, Studiophile AV 40. It also retains the same solid build quality, while taking a more compact form. Most importantly, it delivers hearty, well-balanced sound that you don't often get at this price

Logitech Harmony 900
The wand-style Harmony 900 is the best universal remote control that we've had the pleasure of testing so far. Relatively easy to set up, comfortable to hold and responsive, it should delight home-cinema fans, although it will leave a sizeable dent in the wallet

Logitech Performance Mouse MX
One for those who take cursor control seriously, plenty of thought has been put into the Performance Mouse MX's design and features. Sporting the most versatile mouse sensor on the market, it not only works on all the same surfaces as mice with Microsoft's BlueTrack sensor, but it also tracks on glass

Razer Megalodon headset
Hard-core gamers won't be disappointed by the Razer Megalodon PC gaming headset. Its 7.1-channel surround sound is fantastic and highly tweakable, and the headset's comfortable to wear for prolonged periods. It's fairly pricey but we reckon it's worth the investment

Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000
There's not much to complain about when it comes to the Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000. It's equally suited to both right- and left-handed users, its wireless connectivity reduces cable clutter, and Microsoft's BlueTrack technology means it scrolls beautifully on almost any surface

Bose QuietComfort 15
The QuietComfort 15s are no bargain, but they're ludicrously comfortable, and deliver the best sound quality that we've heard so far from noise-cancelling headphones. In fact, the level of detail that they offer may inspire you to relisten to your entire music library

Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350
Heavy typists would do well to investigate the Wireless Keyboard K350. It's comfortable, easy to get used to, and exploits Logitech's Unifying technology, which lets you connect up to six compatible peripherals to a single USB receiver. Compared with other ergonomic keyboards, it's also affordable

JVC Marshmallow
Although they're very inexpensive, the JVC Marshmallow earphones are a huge step up from stock earbuds. They offer a secure, comfortable fit, good sound quality across all genres, and decent noise-isolation capability. Available in a wide variety of colours, they're also fairly stylish

iBlink Earbuds
With most cheap earbuds more or less indistinguishable from each other, the iBlink Earbuds stand out by virtue of their built-in, music-responsive, flashing LEDs. The construction and sound quality isn't great, but they'll probably appeal to the target market of young folk
